I’m torn between calling myself lazy and accepting that I just have a lot going on at the moment, because I hate to disappoint my readers with these fly-by posts! Ah well…I should have more time in the next day or so to give you some decent stuff to read and watch!
But yeah, All the Cool Music Blog Kids Are Doing It — the best of year (so far) lists! I figure, why not? It’s been a fun year to date, with a lot of great stuff coming out that has been getting decent play on my PC and mp3 players. I’m thinking one post will be for songs and another will be for full albums.
Right now I have a hell of a lot on my plate, so I’m going to take the rest of the week off so I can get caught up and give myself a little bit of breathing room. I may take next week off as well. We shall see.
In the meantime, please enjoy this new Beatles video for “Glass Onion”, which will be on the new White Album box set out this Friday. And yes, of course I pre-ordered it ages ago!
Hey all! I’ll be afk all next week as we head to autumnal New England to visit family and friends, get some Dunkies, drive the Mass Pike, and of course marvel at the foliage. I of course made not one but TWO compilations to listen to on the plane.
We shall return once more on the 16th with more tunage!
The above building with the green store front is 8 Hogarth Road, just down the block from where we’re staying in Earl’s Court.
For those curious, this was the original location of the Beggars Banquet record shop, and soon after housed the record label/distributor of the same name. In 1980, Ivo Watts-Russell started the 4AD label there on the second floor. They only stayed there for a few formative years, but those years included Matt Johnson/The The, Bauhaus, and Modern English.
As I’d mentioned elsewhere, I’ll be quite busy this month working on revision for In My Blue World. I’ll do my best to continue posting here regularly, though! The entries might not be as intensive as normal, but never fear, I’ll always provide you with some fun tunage!
For now, I’ve got a bit of revision prep work to do these first few days of the month that’s gonna keep me occupied, so I’ll leave you with a few ELO tracks that inspired my new novel.
I’ll be doing my usual month-in-review post of June’s releases on Thursday and the Twenty/Thirty Years On series next week. Thanks for waiting!
