Oof, that was quite a chore. I just spent close to six hours this morning trolling eight or nine different websites (plus a phone app) looking for COVID vaccination openings, but my diligence and French-Canadian stubbornness PAID OFF. I will be getting the first dose next Thursday over in Mill Valley, which is a shortish trip across the Golden Gate Bridge from here, with dose #2 TBA at the same place. WIN!
Anyway, I was planning on doing a Spare Oom Playlist March Edition post today but due to said trolling (and needing to get some work done later today), I’ll push it off to tomorrow. Thanks for waiting!
…busy and distracted with a lot of different things at the moment, including two projects and submission research, leaving me with little extra brain juice to come up with anything exciting to post about. Sorry for the lack of posts this month! I’ll try to get back on the ball next week!
(In the meantime, posting a fun boppy tune by Oceanator I discovered a few weeks ago that I’m really digging. Enjoy!)
I’ve decided to take next week off for a few reasons: One, it’s my birthday on the 22nd. Two, we’ll be installing the new President (Version 46, now available with Vastly Improved Intelligence Capability) and I feel like celebrating that. And Three, I just want to get some offline creative work done and get myself caught up.
Whoops! I seem to have forgotten to post here on Thursday! That’s okay, I still have this coming week. I’ll have the last End of Year Review up on Tuesday and hopefully I’ll have the SIngles Mixtape and Best of Lists on Thursday.
Hope your holidays have been groovy! See you then!
Hey gang! Sorry for the lack of updates lately…I’ve been busy with a lot of things the last couple of weeks so I haven’t been able to post too much. I’m just going to call it now and start fresh on 12/1. See you then!
Hi gang, sorry for pushing another fly-by entry your way, but I’m feeling super distracted this morning and I want to get some writing work done today, so…here, have a recent video from They Might Be Giants, featuring songs about coffee that were apparently planned but mostly unused for a Dunkies ad campaign.
[PS: Speaking of whom, I recently bought a twelve-pack of a special run of donut-flavored beer put together by Harpoon and Dunkin, featuring Boston Kreme stout, pumpkin, coffee porter, and jelly donut IPA. It’s…actually kind of tasty!]
I’m a little busy today with a few projects, so in the meantime I’ll share a recent find: a band called The Reds, Pinks & Purples. They’re a semi-lofi band that’s not quite shoegaze and not quite dreampop. I’d say they bear a very remarkable resemblance to 80s bedsit-rockers Felt, which is a big plus in my book.
They’re also a local band…so local, they come from my neighborhood! Their latest album You Might Be Happy Someday just dropped a week or so ago and it’s quite lovely, but part of what won me over is the cover, taken on the corner of 5th Ave and Balboa, a little over a mile away from our house! (Their other releases have similar cover pictures of houses and shops in the Richmond District, which I also think is kind of cool!)
It’s been two months since I last posted here, and a ton of things have happened in the world since I went silent. Not all of it good. Not at all.
Me? I’m doing okay. I’m in the process of job searching. We’re strapping on our locally made masks and going out for walks in the afternoons. We’re streaming all the TV shows and rewatching Time Team. We’re processing what’s going on locally and nationally. We’re doing what we can, how we can.
I haven’t written a damn thing other than one or two poems and some personal journal entries. And I’m okay with that. I needed the break.
I’ve got some projects I need to start and I need to step away from the internets for a bit so I can focus on them, so I won’t be updating the blogs on a normal schedule. I’ll be popping back up if and when I can!
